BTC City Ljubljana: Shopping, Food & Things to Do
When visiting Ljubljana, most travelers explore the charming Old Town, Ljubljana Castle, Dragon Bridge, and the beautiful Ljubljanica River. But Ljubljana also has a modern side worth discovering, and BTC City Ljubljana is one of the best places to experience it.
During my stay in Ljubljana, I decided to visit BTC City, one of the largest shopping and entertainment areas in Slovenia. Although I did not have enough time to explore every part of this huge complex, I enjoyed discovering its atmosphere, shops, restaurants, and relaxing spaces.
If you have some extra time in Ljubljana and want to take a break from traditional sightseeing, BTC City can be an interesting addition to your itinerary.
What Is BTC City Ljubljana?
BTC City Ljubljana is a large shopping, business, and entertainment district located a short distance from the city center. It is much more than a traditional shopping mall — it combines stores, restaurants, cafés, leisure activities, and spaces suitable for visitors of all ages.
Because of its size and variety, BTC City is a popular place for locals as well as tourists looking for shopping, dining, or a different experience beyond Ljubljana’s historic attractions.
How to Get to BTC City Ljubljana
I reached BTC City by bus from the city center. The bus line I used goes towards Ameriška ulica, where one of the entrances to the complex is located.
One of the things I liked about BTC City is how accessible it is. The area has several entrances from different sides, and there are parking spaces available around the entire complex, making it convenient both for visitors arriving by public transport and those traveling by car.
What Is It Like to Visit BTC City Ljubljana?
The first thing I noticed was how spacious and well-organized the area is. Unlike some crowded shopping centers, BTC City feels open and comfortable, allowing visitors to walk around at a relaxed pace.
I enjoyed simply exploring the area, taking a walk, and discovering different shops and places to stop for a break. There are many cafés and restaurants where visitors can enjoy a coffee, lunch, or a quick meal at reasonable prices.
For travelers who need a break from sightseeing, BTC City can be a nice place to slow down, especially after walking around Ljubljana’s city center.
Shopping at BTC City Ljubljana
BTC City offers a wide range of stores, making it easy to find everything you might need during your visit.
From fashion and everyday essentials to popular international brands, visitors can spend several hours exploring different shops. During my visit, I especially noticed the popular Primark store, which attracts many shoppers looking for affordable clothing and accessories.
Crystal Palace Shopping Gallery
One of the areas worth exploring while shopping at BTC City is the Crystal Palace Shopping Gallery. BTC City is much larger than a traditional shopping mall, with different shopping areas spread across the complex.
The Crystal Palace Shopping Gallery includes fashion and accessories, consumer electronics, home décor, beauty and wellness services, as well as places to stop for a coffee. If you enjoy browsing different stores rather than staying in one shopping centre, it's an interesting part of BTC City to explore.
Whether you are looking for something specific or simply enjoy browsing shops, BTC City provides plenty of options.
Family-Friendly Activities and Entertainment at BTC City Ljubljana
BTC City is more than a shopping destination. It also offers several entertainment options, making it worth considering if you're traveling with children, looking for indoor activities, or simply want a break from sightseeing.

If you're looking for something more exciting than shopping, WOOP! is one of the entertainment options available at BTC City. It offers activities such as karting and glow golf, making it an interesting option for families, couples, and groups of friends.

Atlantis Water Park – A Great Option for Families
If you're visiting Ljubljana with children, Atlantis Water Park is another interesting option in BTC City. The complex includes indoor and outdoor pools, water slides, children's water attractions, a wave pool, and other activities. There is also Atlantis Wellness for visitors looking for a more relaxing experience.
A visit to Atlantis can be especially useful on a rainy day or if you simply want to take a break from sightseeing and spend a few hours doing something completely different.

Tip: Check the official website before visiting, as opening hours and available attractions can change. Adventure World is scheduled to be closed for renovation from September 1 to approximately October 24, 2026, while the other facilities, including Atlantis Wellness, are expected to remain open.

Is BTC City Ljubljana Worth Visiting?
Based on my experience, I think BTC City Ljubljana is worth visiting if you have extra time in the city and want to experience a different side of Ljubljana.
It may not be the first place visitors think about when planning a trip to Slovenia’s capital, but it offers something different from the historic center — a modern, spacious, and relaxed environment with shopping, food, and entertainment options.
I would especially recommend it to families, shopping lovers, and travelers looking for something to do on a rainy day or during a longer stay in Ljubljana.

It's only a short drive or bus ride away and offers beautiful riverside cafés, historic architecture, Dragon Bridge, Triple Bridge and Ljubljana Castle. Combining shopping with sightseeing is a great way to experience both the modern and historic sides of Slovenia's capital.
